I know a few of you are technically-minded, so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me.
I have bought a "luxury chalet" (i.e. shed with windows) and placed it at the bottom of our garden. This is going to be my gym/computer room/gentlemen's club.
Now, my concern is that the temperature may vary so much that the computer gets too moist and breaks.
The shed is lifted about a foot off the ground so i am not worried about flooding.
I have had a few thoughts, but none of them seem like a perfect solution:
1) Buy a shitload of silica gel (i can buy it by the kilo) and put a box of it in the computer chassis. This can me microwaved every few weeks to remove the moisture. The problem with this is i have heard silica gel can be toxic, so keeping it in a hot place like the inside of a computer could make some nasty fumes.
2) Buy a dehumidifier for the shed. They aren't very expensive, but i obviously wouldn't want to keep it on all the time as that would be a real waste of electricity.
3) Put the computer in a waterproof box. This would be pretty easy but i think it would probably overheat.
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

I don't think you have anything to worry about mate. PC's are as tough as old boots and silicon chip technology works in the heart of the amazon - more moist than your shed - and in Siberia - colder than your shed. I don't think the fluctuations will make any difference at all.
You would probably best to avoid condensation (running water) as you may get short circuits, so for cool dewy evenings you would need to avoid condensation in the building and this is about adewquate ventelation. Maybe install a passive or even an active extractor fan, a dehumidifier unit and importantly good building insulation to prevent condensation on cold surdfaces and high day/night temperature fluctuations. So consider cladding the walls - good soundproofing too.
Then invite us down, give us our genntlemans club passwes and get us rat arsed.

What's cladding?
I'm pretty good at DIY but i've not used that before.

just the usual glassfibre sheets or foam used in ceilings etc. If your cabin is double walled it may be in there anyway or you may be able to inject it.

I agree with Steevo - I would not worry about moisture as all my computers survived several years in New Orleans where moisture just hangs on the walls in the winter months. Heat is more your enemy - and you're in England so. . .no problem there.
